- If using Wi-Fi, try switching to a wired connection.

2. Restart Windows Update Services
- Open Command Prompt (Admin) and type:

net stop cryptsvc
net start wuauserv
net start bits

- This restarts the core update services, Windows Update, Background Intelligent Transfer Service (BITS), and Cryptographic Service, ensuring smooth communication between your system and update servers.

- After executing these commands, try updating Windows again. This step resolves most update-related file corruption issues.
4. Run the Windows Update Troubleshooter
- Go to Settings- Update & Security- Troubleshoot- Additional troubleshooters.
- Select Windows Update - Run the troubleshooter.
- Follow the on-screen instructions and apply the recommended fixes.
5. Disable Antivirus and Firewall Temporarily
- Open your antivirus software and pause protection.
- Turn off Windows Defender Firewall temporarily from Control Panel - System and Security - Windows Defender Firewall - Turn Windows Defender Firewall on or off.
- Once updates are complete, re-enable your security tools immediately.
6. Run System File Checker (SFC) and DISM Tools
- Open Command Prompt (Admin) and execute:
sfc /scannow
DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth
- The SFC command checks for and repairs corrupted or missing system files.
- The DISM tool repairs the Windows image to ensure all update components are healthy.
- Restart your system after running both commands.
7. Perform Disk Cleanup and Error Check
- Type Disk Cleanup in the Windows search bar, open it, and delete temporary files.
- Then, open Command Prompt (Admin) and run:
chkdsk /f /r
- Follow the prompts and restart your system.
- This ensures that your drive is error-free and has sufficient space for updates.
8. Use Windows Update Assistant
- Download it from Microsoft’s official website.
- Run the tool and follow the prompts to install the latest version of Windows.
- This method bypasses problematic update files and directly installs the correct components.
