1. Increase Virtual Memory Manually
- Go to System Properties → Advanced → Performance → Settings → Advanced tab → Virtual Memory.
- Uncheck "Automatically manage," then set custom size (Initial = 4096 MB, Max = 8192 MB or more).
- Restart your PC.
2. Run Memory Diagnostics
- Press Win + R, type mdsched.exe, and hit Enter.
- Choose Restart now and check for problems.
- Windows will check your RAM for physical errors.
3. Clean Boot Your System
- Open msconfig, disable all non-Microsoft services and startup items.
- Restart to see if a background app is exhausting memory.
4. Free Up System Resources
- Open Task Manager, check the Memory tab.
- End processes using high memory.
- Remove unused programs or browser extensions.
5. Update All Drivers
Outdated or buggy drivers, especially for graphics and storage, can mismanage memory:
- Open Device Manager → Right-click devices → Update Driver.
- Or download updated drivers directly from manufacturer websites.
6. Run System File Checker and DISM
Use these commands to scan for system file corruption:
sfc /scannow
DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth
7. Check for Malware
- Use Windows Defender or third-party software to perform a deep malware scan.
- Malware can consume memory stealthily or corrupt memory management routines.
