- Power on and interrupt boot 3 times to enter WinRE.
- Go to Troubleshoot โ Advanced options.
2. Repair Boot Configuration
- Open Command Prompt in WinRE.

bootrec /fixboot
bootrec /scanos
bootrec /rebuildbcd
- Restart and check if Windows boots.
3. Update or Roll Back Drivers
- Boot into Safe Mode with Networking.

4. Run CHKDSK to Repair Disk Errors
- In Command Prompt, type:

5. Repair System Files with SFC & DISM
- Open Command Prompt (Admin) in WinRE.
- Run:
sfc /scannow /offbootdir=C:\ /offwindir=C:\Windows
DISM /Image:C:\ /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth
- This repairs corrupted system files.
6. Reset BIOS/UEFI to Default
- Enter BIOS/UEFI during startup (Del, F2, Esc).
- Restore Default Settings.
- Disable overclocking if enabled.
- Ensure correct SATA mode (AHCI/RAID/IDE).
7. Update BIOS/UEFI Firmware
- Download the latest BIOS/firmware from your motherboard or system manufacturer.
- Apply updates to improve compatibility with drivers and hardware.
8. Test Hardware Components
- Run Windows Memory Diagnostic for RAM errors.
- Test GPU stability using stress tools.
- Check HDD/SSD health with manufacturer diagnostics.
- Replace failing components if detected.
9. Scan for Malware or Rootkits
- From WinRE, run Windows Defender Offline Scan.
- Use advanced anti-rootkit tools for deeper checks.
10. Perform System Restore
- In WinRE โ System Restore.
- Select a restore point before the BSOD began.
The 0x0000007E (SYSTEM_THREAD_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED) BSOD points to driver conflicts, BIOS issues, or faulty hardware as root causes.
To fix the issue:
- Update or roll back drivers
- Run CHKDSK, SFC, and DISM
- Reset BIOS and disable overclocking
- Test RAM, GPU, and storage health
If unresolved:
- Replace faulty hardware components
- Update BIOS/UEFI firmware
- Perform a clean Windows installation for long-term stability
