1. Check Internet Stability
Start with ensuring your network is working reliably:
- Switch to a wired connection if possible.
- Restart your router or check with your ISP if needed.
2. Update or Reconnect Your Email Account
Especially if you're using services like Outlook.com or Exchange:
- Go to File → Account Settings → Account Settings.
- Remove the problematic account and re-add it to refresh the sync configuration.
3. Repair Outlook Installation
Corrupt program files may be causing the issue:
- Go to Control Panel → Programs and Features.
- Right-click Microsoft Office, select Change, then choose Quick Repair or Online Repair.
4. Reset Outlook Data Files
Local data file issues may cause sync interruptions:
- Close Outlook.
- Navigate to: C:\Users\[YourUsername]\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Outlook\
- Rename or delete the OST/PST file associated with your account (Outlook will recreate it).
5. Disable Add-Ins and Extensions
Conflicting add-ins can interfere with Outlook:
- Go to File → Options → Add-ins.
- Click Go, and disable all add-ins. Restart Outlook and see if the issue persists.
6. Temporarily Disable Antivirus/Firewall
Security tools may block Outlook’s connection:
- Temporarily disable them and test Outlook.
- If it works, whitelist Outlook in your security software settings.
7. Switch to Microsoft 365 or Modern Sync
If you’re using an older sync method like Outlook Connector:
- Consider switching to a more modern setup like Microsoft 365 or native Exchange support.
